The video is extremely helpful for our team to understand the issues you’re facing. Your questions and feedback are not silly, by the way, as we also have other non-architects in our community using Arkio for personal projects, and we want to make Arkio a tool that anyone, regardless of project scale, can use.
The disappearance of your old scenes in Arkio 1.9 looks quite serious, and we apologize for any work you may have lost as a result. I’d be happy to help you recover some files on your device by troubleshooting this together. (you can get in touch via support@arkio.is to plan a meeting)
Regarding the experiences with Arkio’s snapping and geometry movement, we made some improvements with version 2.0, but we also understand the issue. More precise snapping controls and nudging controls are a good idea, especially when working with smaller geometries that overlap closely, as in your examples.
There is one way to disable snapping of guides and edges: hold the thumbstick down while moving an object. This will not disable the gluing of objects to other surfaces, but it can help to make some finer adjustments on things that don’t need to align and share faces. I can share some more tips for working with finer snapping and overlapps in our documentation in the coming weeks, and it might also help to jump directly into an Arkio session with you to learn what is possible today and to see what geometry in your scene is giving you the most difficulties, so we know what to focus on next when improving that part of Arkio.
Btw, your use case and designs are really fun, and we’d love to learn more about you (and your cozy pets shown in the video 
). I think the community would also be interested in learning about the rooms you are designing using Mixed Reality and how you created some of these designs.
