Hello everyone, Guen here, I am currently studying Civil Engineering Technology and taking virtual reality on SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology). I’ll be presenting the software as a business proposal to our department dean and professors. I am presenting Arkio as part of an educational program to be used on our VR and AR subject. I need suggestions on how to promote the technical side of the program. I’ll be focusing more on VR side and a little bit on VR and MR. Any suggestions are welcome. I’ll be doing the presentation on the 1st week of December. Any help is welcome.
Hi @guendalyn_yasol ! Regarding the technical side of Arkio, you could highlight areas like our custom solid modeling kernel, multiplayer, cross-platform support and the various integrations we have with design tools like Revit, Rhino and SketchUp. Another key technical area is our support for large 3D models, which you can read about here: https://www.arkio.is/blog/arkio-large-model-support/
There are some interesting bits and pieces as well on our blog site about our mixed reality support, e.g. this one: Working in mixed reality with room import and spatial anchors
Arkio is developed using C# and Unity, and we’ve created custom plugins for tools like Revit which enable both exporting from these design tools but also importing geometry from Arkio into the design tools. This bi-directional support is pretty unique and opens up various interesting workflows when doing design ideation and collaborative reviews.
Let me know if there are any specific areas of Arkio you’re interested in knowing more about!
