I am in Australia where Iāve been teaching with SketchUP Pro for some time. I have a small VR business looknbook.com.au, and intend to use ARKIO for engagement with my future students. If all goes well, from mid year onwards.
For now, I am getting my head all around here, and with this beta version of ARKIO (still trying to find where to download fromā¦).
I have used the standard ARKIO 1.9.1 a few times, with an edu license. See you guys on the webinar coming up this week
Hi yāall, Iām a Texas native VR enthusiast always on the hunt for CAD and space planning software. Iāve run across Arkio in my searches the past couple of years and finally gave it a whirl. It is really awesome for what I want to do! However, I am very skeptical when it comes to āfreeā software in that I donāt want to heavily invest in a tool only to find out more features I want are way out of my price range (Thanks Fusion 360). Also donāt want you guys to go out of business with all my models that I canāt export. Help me feel better about investing more time with Arkio
Hi there! Happy to jump on a call and tell you all about Arkio and our future plans. Feel free to schedule some time with me here: Scheduler - Pipedrive
Iām the Director of Technology at Saddle River Day School in Northern NJ, where I get to blend my love of innovation, media, and hands-on learning for students in PreK3ā12. I design our integrated STEAM curriculum, run our makerspace and video production studio, and work closely with teachers to bring creative technology into their classrooms.
I teach a high school videography class as well as our VR City class, where students use Arkio to explore urban design through the lens of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We meet in person once a week during the school day and then again at night in VR for an hour, giving students the chance to prototype buildings, rethink public spaces, and collaborate inside shared virtual environments. I am trying to make the case for students and teachers learning/teaching from anywhere in an engaging, project-based way. We are also experimenting with Motion Capture, and our students recently participated in an NYU study on the effectiveness of VR in education.
As an educator, Iām a huge proponent of community-based design and want experiences for the walls of the school to melt away so students can gain real-world experiences and learn from mentors. If anyone on this forum has time to inspire or inform our students, we would love a Zoom or even an in-person visit!
I also organize TEDxYouth@SRDS where students write and give TED talks to the entire high school community. They are on the TEDxYouth@SRDS Youtube channel and I teach digital literacy and other design-focused courses. I live in Northern NJ with my husband, a television producer, our three sons, and our pup Ruby. I hold a Bachelorās degree in Television, Radio & Film Production from Syracuse University and a Masterās in Education from the University of Southern California. Iād be happy to connect here: www.linkedin.com/in/laurahollis525.
Welcome to the forum, Laura! Your use case of students collaborating on new urban designs sounds really inspiring. Weād love to hear more about this in our Education section to inspire and get tips from other educational users and us.
Iām an architect with a strong interest in emerging design tools and spatial technologies. I currently teach Virtual Reality in architecture at the BAC, where I explore how immersive environments can support design thinking, collaboration, and new ways of working. Iāve been actively using VR in both education and design workflows, and Iām always curious about how platforms like Arkio can reshape how we create and experience space.
Iāve been designing residential architecture for over five years, working on projects from early concept through detailed design, and Iām based in Poland.
Iām also part of the Arkio team on the education side, so if you ever need help, have questions, or want feedback, feel free to reach out, Iād be more than happy to see what youāre working on and learn from the experiments happening in this community!!!
My name is Alisher and Iām a second-year architecture student based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Iām currently preparing to apply for a masterās program in Japan.
Before starting university I already had several years of experience working with architectural design and BIM, and Iāve continued working in the field while studying. I spend quite a lot of time experimenting with VR design tools and exploring how immersive environments can support early architectural concepts.
Recently Iāve been very interested in integrating VR tools into the architectural design workflow, and Arkio has been extremely helpful for exploring spatial ideas in a more interactive way.
