Project Summary: Virtual City – A Collaborative 3D Modeling and Game Design Project At Kulturskolan in Mjölby, a group of students took part in a creative project that combined 3D modeling, digital design, and collaborative play. Using Blender, the students designed and modeled a variety of 3D objects, which were brought together to form a small virtual city. The models were created by several students, each contributing their own ideas and designs to the shared environment. Once the city took shape, the students came up with the idea of turning their creation into a small interactive game. To bring this concept to life, the participating students were divided into two groups: -Game Designers: One group sat at the computer and planned the game, defining the rules, objectives, and instructions for navigating the virtual city. - Players: The other group followed the designers’ instructions and competed against each other, with the goal of being the first to reach a specific location within the city. This project gave the students (kids 11 years old) the opportunity to explore multiple aspects of digital creation — from technical 3D modeling skills in Blender, to creative problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and basic game design principles. It also highlighted how individual contributions from many students can come together to form a shared creative world, even when not everyone is involved in every stage of the project.
